How To Play Mini Golf

Just like Pittwater Golf Centre, Putt U in the USA have two 18 hole mini golf courses, that take a very similar shape to ours – without our classic Pirate theme that is!

If you are new to mini golf, or looking to improve your game then check out this 2 part video tutorial:

  1. Choose a golf ball, one ball per player. Each player should have a different coloured ball.
  2. Choose a putter, your putter should go up to your hip or waist.
  3. If you are keeping score, make sure you have a pencil and score card.
  4. Decide amongst the players who will go first, second and so on.
  5. The first player places their ball at the end of the green.
  6. Grip the putter. Hold the putter in front of you and use your dominant hand as if shaking hands with it, then lower your other hand on the grip. (See video 1 for visual demonstration)
  7. For the correct stance make a triangle with your feet and golf ball. position your feet either side and the right distance for you to swing your putter. (See video 1)
  8. Using the line on the top of your putter aim your shot.
  9. Using a putting stroke (keep the swing below your waist) hit the ball towards the hole.
  10. When player one has had their first hit, the next players each complete their turn.
  11. Once each player has had their first turn, the player furthest from the hole has another 5 strokes to sink their ball.
  12. When every player has sunk their ball or had 6 strokes then it is time to move to the next hole.
  13. Record each players score for the previous hole before starting the next.
  14. Complete steps 5-12 until every hole is completed and then tally up the final score.
